Testing the permeability of dry gases
SERVICE DESCRIPTION:
Test methods: Test with determination of the Time Lag With this method the gaspermeability, the diffusion constant and the solubility of the gas can be determined. Test without determination of the Time Lag This method is indicated if the gas solubility is not relevant. Test with specified gas-flux period Applicable when a limited supply of gas is available, or if the gas is toxic. This procedure allows the determination of the permeation of moist gases. Suitable for characterization of packaging materials.

Bioactive compounds extraction using non-conventional methods
SERVICE DESCRIPTION:
Extraction techniques are the most applicable for separation of bioactive compounds from vegetable matrices. Ultrasound assisted solvent extraction is one of the techniques which allow to obtain high separation yield in short time at mild temperature avoiding compounds degradation during the process. Another enhanced procedure is the microwave assisted solvent extraction or solvent free extraction, the second one applicable especially for volatile oil separation from plant materials.

Rheological characterization of hydrogels
SERVICE DESCRIPTION:
Rheological properties of hydrogels could be detremined by measuring force and deformation as a function of time, using BOHLIN rotational rheometer. Because gels are viscoelastic materials, dynamic rheological tests could be performed: single frequency, frequency sweep, amplitude sweep, time sweep and temperature sweep (gradient, step change or profile). Tests can be performed at constant stress or constant strain amplitude using Auto-stress mode.

SOLVENT-FREE, MICROWAVE EXTRACTION SYSTEM
CATALOG NAME:
Solvent-free, microwave extraction equipment NEOS
DESCRIPTION:
The Milestone NEOS performs solvent-free microwave extraction at atmospheric pressure of essential oil in plant material. The method involves placing the sample in the microwave reactor, without any added solvent or water. The internal heating of the water within the sample distends its cells and leads to rupture of the glands and oleiferous receptacles. This process thus frees essential oil, which is evaporated by the in-situ water of the plant material. A cooling system outside the microwave oven continuously condenses the vapours which are collected on specific glassware. The excess of water is refluxed back to the extraction vessel in order to restore the in-situ water to the sample. Once the essential oils have been extracted they can be analyzed directly by GC-MS without any preliminary clean-up or solvent exchange steps.

ULTRASONIC PROCESSOR
CATALOG NAME:
Ultrasonic Processor VCX 500
DESCRIPTION:
The VCX 500 provide a new level of reproducibility by simultaneously monitoring and controlling both the temperature of the sample and the amount of energy that is being delivered. This innovation, delivers unprecedented accuracy, and virtually eliminates any opportunities for human errors and operator-to-operator variability. In contrast to other ultrasonic processors, it is the only one that can control to one Joule, the amount of energy that is being delivered into the sample.
