Ultrasonic nondestructive measurement of hardness penetration depth
SERVICE DESCRIPTION:
By using a software program EHT (effective hardening depth) as an additional module for the ultrasonic test system USLT 2000 the nondestructive measurement of hardness penetration depths of thermally hardened steels is carried out according to the ultrasonic backscatter method. This method is based on the fact that the mean grain size is reduced by the hardening process. The transition area between grain size in the base material and grain size in the hardened area is traduced into scatter indications and consequently in the hardness penetration depth.

Ultrasonic precision thickness measurements on thin metal sheets and layers
SERVICE DESCRIPTION:
The software program RTM (Resonance Thickness Measurement) is used for carrying out a precision thickness measurement on very thin objects. Wall thicknesses are usually determined on the basis of the time of flight of a sound pulse. The RTM module makes precision thickness measurements on sheet metal between 0.15 mm and 1.5 mm at an accuracy of ± 5 μm.

Ultrasonic characterization of material and reflector properties
SERVICE DESCRIPTION:
The software program FFT (Fast Fourier Transform) is an additional module for the ultrasonic test system USLT 2000. The method makes use of the fact that every ultrasonic echo is a convolution product of the properties of the acoustic transducer, of the material, and of the reflector properties. If the frequency spectrum of an acoustic transducer is known the frequency shift measurement enables conclusions to be drawn with regard to the reflector (planar or curved) and the material (metallurgical properties, consistence, matrix characterization of composite materials, mineral content of bones or osteoporosis detection of sedimentation, gelation, impurities, temperature effect).

Contamination control of hydraulic systems
SERVICE DESCRIPTION:
Contamination refers anything foreign in the hydraulic system. Particulate contaminants include dirt, sand, metal or rubber wear particles. Contamination control means preventing contaminants from entering into hydraulic system and placing filters in adequate locations to stop contaminants to find a way into the fluid. Analysis and optimization of processes with regard to the cleanliness of components and the purity of the fluids is the target of contamination management. For measurement we use an automatic particle counters Hydac FluidControl Unit FCU 2000 series, fiber-optic infrared sensor technology for detecting solid contaminants in high-pressure lines in hydraulic systems and for bottle sampling and tank analysis. A validation of the results is made using determination of particulate contamination by the counting method using an optical microscope (according with ISO4407 standard). The Hydac FluidAnalysis Set is used to produce contamination monitors from oil samples. The reference photographs enable a quick evaluation of fluid contamination (cleanliness class rating). A microscope is used to determine the type of particle.

The Presto Erichsen is able to mechanical test the metals modified Erichsen cupping test sheets and strips. It forms a cup shape by pressing a punch with a spherical end against a clamped test piece between a blank holder and a die until a through crack appears. The measured depth of the cup is the result of the test based movement of the punch. It addresses the ability of metallic sheets and strips having a thickness from 0.2 to 2 mm and a width of 90 mm or more to undergo plastic deformation in stretch drawing. The machine is equipped with a gauge for measuring the movement of the punch with a scale division of 0.1 mm. The Vickers hardness of working surfaces of the die, the blank holder and the punch are as per the standards. The working surface of the punch is spherical and polished. The machine ensures holding the test piece with a constant holding force of approximately 10 kN. Measurement of the depth of penetration to the nearest 0.1 mm indicates the Erichsen cupping index (IE) when expressed in millimeters.
